We firmly believe individuals have a right to choose whether they want to receive communications via email and have a right to change their mind at any time. We also believe individuals have a right to receive the email they have requested. If a business' customer has requested email communications, we also staunchly stand by the company's right to communicate with this customer via email and their right to minimize the risks that may result in their email being erroneously blocked, discarded, or redirected. We advocate most anti-spam efforts and applaud the efforts by ISPs and companies to minimize the cost and nuisance of spam to their respective constituencies. We understand and respect that in order to keep up with the innovative techniques of spammers, the weapons employed to defeat them may not always be perfect. Our goal is to support the fight against spam by helping to minimize the impact of false positives on both the individuals who are not receiving the email they have requested and the companies who are failing to get their legitimate email delivered.
eContent Scorer is a powerful tool in the legitimate company's tool chest and will provide the intelligence needed to minimize the likelihood of being misclassified as a spammer and increase the likelihood ISPs and corporations will recognize your email as being legitimate mail that your customers have requested. It is not, however, a tool for non-permission based companies. We will not aid or abet spammers or any company who disregards the privacy and permission-based standards advocated by TRUSTe and the Better Business Bureau. Pivotal Veracity must and does enforce a strict qualification process for initial as well as continued use of the eContent Scorer.

- Only accessible by companies with a valid TRUSTe Privacy Seal, Better Business Bureaus Privacy Seal, or a WebTrust Online Privacy Seal. Exceptions may be made if the company is using the ePrivacy Group's Trusted Sender certificate, Ironport's Bonded Sender, the Habeas SWE, or other mailer certification programs specifically recognized and advocated by TRUSTe, WebTrust or the BBB.
- Scoring for Content destined to Customers
- Permitted when the email content is being used in a mailing to recipients who have specifically opted-in to receive email from your company. If you used an opt-out option in data collection, this opt-out option must have been clearly presented to the customer at the point they provided you their email address. All content must include a working method to unsubscribe.
- Not permitted on email append and other campaigns that are destined for your customers but where the customer did not literally provide you permission to email them at that specific email account and did not have an opportunity to opt-out at the point of email address collection. We recognize this is a gray area due to a pre-existing relationship BUT in order to ensure the continued viability of eContent Scorer for your opt-in customer mailings, we must enforce the "white area".
- Scoring for Content destined to Prospects (acquisition mailings)
- Permitted when you have verified, minimally through a written contract with the list provider, that the target recipients have specifically opted-in to receive third party offers. All content must identify both the advertiser, the registered company name of the list source, and a working method for unsubscribing to all future 3rd party offers.
- Not Permitted when the target recipients were only given an opportunity to opt-out of third party mailings or no option at all.
