Yahoo announced that the connectivity issues seen a few weeks back have returned as of this morning. They are aware of the problem and are working to reslve the issues. The postmaster team left the following message this morning indicating that they are aware of the issues and working to resolve them:

Until now, marketers have been limited to two relatively uninspired options for sending direct communications to consumers on their mobile phones: SMS (a.k.a., “text messaging”), and text-only, imageless email on devices like the Blackberry and Palm Treo. But with the introduction of Apple’s iPhone and competitor operating systems like Google’s Android and Palm’s Pre/Pixi now offering similarly rich user experiences, email marketers have a huge opportunity to reach consumers anywhere, any time, on their mobile devices.

When Steve Jobs unveiled the iPad in late January, the hype obscured the facts, making it difficult for to determine what effect, if any, Apple’s new tablet computer would have on e-mail marketing. But with at least 12 million people expected to buy iPads this year and next, according to Piper Jaffray, it’s worth looking beyond the puffery to see how marketers need to accommodate the product. Are the lines blurring or am I just going cross-eyed? Google announced a number of Labs features that have been graduated out of the nursery test bed of gadgets and technologies into full blown live features available to users of the mail interface. Chief among these new odds and ends is the ability to embed YouTube videos that will play directly within the Gmail webmail client. This afternoon, Monday February 1st, Yahoo! posted an all-clear message on their Ymail Admin Yahoo! Groups page. They have seen steady connectivity and throughput levels on their MTAs and consider the problem resolved. The problems started last week, on January 26th and persisted for several days thereafter. 

Goodmail announced some important developments today surrounding their Certified Email Program. Verizon & Mail.com have added the Certified Email program and will now accept tokens. This addition extends the reach of the Certified Mail Program to include AOL, AT&T, BT, Comcast, MySpace, Road Runner & Telus. In addition to the new ISPs Goodmail has published a new case study with The Territory Ahead.

Charles Darwin's famous theory of evolution is predicated on the concept of natural selection. Simply put, Darwin believed that individuals who are the best adapted to their environment are the most likely to survive and reproduce, resulting in the progressive evolution of a species that, generation by generation, augments its best traits. This has also been called "survival of the fittest," and the machinations occuring in today's email landscape--where user engagement is playing an increasingly important role in a senders' reputation and deliverability--we see Darwin's theory in action.

Although Yahoo! sent an "all-clear" message in the evening yesterday regarding their MTA's connectivity problems it appears that the problems have returned as of this morning.

It appears as though Yahoo! is having connectivity issues among their MTAs. A notice to that effect was posted today on the Yahoo! postmaster blog. According to Yahoo! the connectivity issues started early this morning and are generating the following error messages:
